VHF Mast cable replacement on MH40

posted 06-03-2015 by F. Anderson

Cable was damaged by the original installation. New cable was manufactured to length (63.3 Foot) and terminated with male UHF on antenna end and female UHF on cabin end (yes this is a VHF, but the connectors are generically called UHF connectors). The female side was pulled through from the Antenna access and pulled out at the front access (My Radar cable comes out here). Space is at a premium and bends are tight, so taking this large diameter cable under the mast foot is asking for trouble. The female end of the cable connected to the mating end without the adapter (one less connection). The resulting job keeps the cable from getting crushed and less connections on the radio should provide a lower impedance connection from the radio to the antenna (more xmit power and rcvr sensitivity). A picture of the damaged cable is attached.
