In past postings, I was asking about having outboard chainplates made for my ODay 27. The previous owner allowed the deck to get saturated and the balsa to rot. Rather than inject quarts of epoxy to remedy the deck situation and still be left with what seems to be a very poor design, I have these chainplates made. They were plasma cut. The lowers have a 11 degree bend to the top and the uppers have a 6 degree bend. When installed, they will mount behind the rub rail just outboard of where the deck-mounted chainplates currently fall.My opinion is this -- though this is a drastic measure to take, it is the most solid possible solution to the problem and removes one major area of concern and risk with this model.
