Conversion of an OD25 Main Salon to a Queen Size

posted 10-07-2008 by Don Evans

Remove the stock settee backs and replace with upholstered foam on chipboard or plywood. With a hinged leg, or, perhaps screw on table legs, it will be used to fill in the starboard half of the berth, and is supported on its legs and a teak moulding on the settee fronts.

Starboard Settee Back

With both settee backs filling in the middle, and sleeping athwartship, gives over 7 feet of berth. The port settee back is supported on either end by small utility boxs, one I use as a tool box, and the other a trash bin.

Queen Size Berth

The port settee back is layed down supported by the utility boxs at either end. Shown is the forward tool box.

Port Side Tool Box

Supports the aft end of the port settee back. Behind the bin is the removable hatch for accessing the diesel.

Trash Bin

With just the port settee down, this allows access to the head and the V-berth. It is very large as a single sleeping lengthwise, or as a cozy double, probably head to toe.
