Trailer for ODay 25/26

posted 10-07-2008 by Ben Allen

The trailer was purchased from the coast area with my previous boat, a Catalina 25, and it is well beyond its useful life span. While going to get the 3 pieces of steel to build a new trailer, it broke in the tongue section while going down the interstate.

Time to really consider a new trailer

The old trailer was rather useful because I was able to take all the measurments off of it and put together an exact model. I was able to use the axles, springs, and upper rollers. I had access to a welder, and while I may not make the prettiest welds, they turned out better than expected. I also learned that welders really earn their money on the job, this is not what I would like to do 8 hours a day.

Starting Assemble

The main frame is finally complete. After this, I assembled the uprights, and roller assemblies, the bow stop and winch mount, and them primed and painted the whole assemble with industrial tank primer and paint.

Starting To Take Shape

This is a different view of the finished frame.

Another View of Frame

This is from the rear, as if you couldnt tell, but I had to type something in this field.

All Loated Up

Aside from not being a welder by profession, Im also not a artist. Here are the main dimentions taken off the finished trailer. The overall width is 8 (wheel to wheel.) If anyone needs additional dimentions, you can e-mail me off line and I will get them for you.
