When the upper pintle broke off my original rudder I bought a replacement Ida Sailor rudder. It is solid polyethylene and rectangular shaped. The leading edge of the rudder extends forward of the pintles and acts as a counterbalance making the weight on the tiller nearly effortless. So much easier than the original that, although I fixed my original rudder I havent used it since.

The design has been since updated to a very modern looking device.
