Gear that's been added I have added air conditioning and heat. New depth and fish finder as well as a color Garmin GPS have been added in antisipation of extended trips. A Hood furler and a new main with full battens was recently added. The engine was was rebuilt in the winter of 2003. A new refrigeration unit was installed. All A/C & D/C wiring has been replaced, including Panels. A new sub panel installed in the aft cabin. All light fixtures in the interior have been replaced. A combo electric and alchol stove has been recently installed. Both the fuel and fresh water tanks are new as of 2005. Accumulator pump, raw water strainer, macerator pump, fresh water pump, all fresh water hoses, thru hull fittings and sea cock have been replace since 2001. Sinks and faucets as well. The entire inner hull has been cleaned and re-painted with 2-part including engine room and bildge. New cushion in the aft cabin, salon and V-birth are new. Upon returning from the Keys at the end of March. I will be tearing out the galley to build a new refer box and replacing the counter tops with Azec board. For the longer trips, I replaced to 2 12v batteries with 8 6v. Splitting these into 2 banks of 4 ea. allows us to stay out longer and assures no problems starting the engine even after a full 24hrs of using the house lights.
Structural or complex improvements For the last 4 years, I have repaired or replaced virtualy everything. The bulkhead in the aft cabin and engine room forward bulkhead were both delaminated as well as seperating from the outer hull. I have replaced both with resin coated 3/4" and glassed them into the outer and lower hull. Every square inch of plywood, from the V-birth to the aft cabin has been replaced with 3/4" marine ply all resin coated and fiber glassed where needed. Every place where possible, such as under the toilets, counter tops in the heads etc., Azec board as replaced the old wood. All outside teak has been replaced with Plas-teak, which of course requires zero maintenance. I fabricated new port and starboard windows to replace the brittle original ones. While in the process of a bottom job, the keel was tightened and re-glassed as well as Prop, shaft and bearing were replacement.
The boat's best features She is great in rough water. The 30hp Westerbeke makes it easy and safe to return home in bad weather. In addition, she is very comfortable for extended stays both in and out of port.
