Review of the Oday 322 by Bill

Year built 1988
Location of boat Chesapeake Bay
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2006
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes. This is our first boat and the more we learn the more satisfied we are that we bought the right boat. It is easy for a couple to sail, has decent performance and is quite roomy for its size.
Gear that's been added No, we haven't really added much thus far. As with most boats of this vintage we've been fixing a few things that were neglected by the last owners. We do plan to add a traveler control system over this winter.
Structural or complex improvements No.
The boat's best features Easy sailing for a couple with lines led to cockpit and the roomy accomodations below decks.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Nothing that would not be typical on a similar boat. The previous owners replaced some hardware with non-marine parts that we are fixing as we source the proper replacements.
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs The boat sails well in the typical light air on the bay. In stiffer winds our boat exhibits a fair amount of weather helm but that could be a result of our relative in experience in proper sail trim.
Liveability Excellent accomodations for two couples or a family for a for long weekend or more. Somewhat limited storage space.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any NA
Other comments The boat is an excellent family boat for an area like the Bay
