Review of the Oday 25 by Ray Fish

Year built 1975  
Location of boat Padanaram&Cuttyhunk,MA.  
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water  
How the boat is used Multi-week coastal cruising  
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots  
Average size of crew solo  
Liveaboard? No  
Owner bought the boat in 2005  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Am current owner of O'Day 23 (great lil'boat)--need more hdrm.,so---got me a 25,fixin-her-up with all the goodies I did to my 23---widened shelves to install teak cabinets-teak access panels under bunks-teak handrails thru-out,Dodger,Bimini,all that good stuff! Next project will be--fixin the saildrive,whose vital parts seem to be OK.Will include pic's. YES-----I would do it again!  
Gear that's been added You betcha--all kindsa good stuff!  
Structural or complex improvements Custom interior--gonna chge that poorly designed cntrbd-winch-up rig that is installed on the early models----ugh!  
The boat's best features Well thought-out boats,well made for the $--!  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Like I mentioned---thr early cntbrd arrangment.  
Sailing characterisitcs Well suited fer an ole-fart,like me--well behaved boat--jus like my lil'O'Day 23--nothin like havin' 2 boats--got 2 hands'--one boat fer each---!  
Motoring characterisitcs Easy to manage under power--if yer a fume-jockey!  
Liveability Well thought-out interior-comfy n'cozy.  
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]  
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Private buy---great bargain!  
Other comments Owned a few boats in my lifetime(another 22yrs-I'll be 100)Have owned Herreshoff-Pearson-C&C's-each one had their own attributes.As ya get longer-in-the-tooth, ya boats get shorter on deck! (YIKES!!if I do live to be 100--can't imagin'what I'll be sailin!!
