Review of the Oday 23 by Steve

Year built 1980
Location of boat Monroe Lake, Indiana
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2009
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Definitely. It's a really nice first boat; simple rigging, uncluttered cockpit, easy to sail, very forgiving.
Gear that's been added None
Structural or complex improvements None
The boat's best features Well built. Large cockpit is nice and it's uncluttered, which makes it easy for our young kids to move around.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Bulkheads- swapped them out in 2010, as well as mast step, which had to be rebedded. Normal wear and tear, really. The lexan fore hatch is nearly always a concern to me because of its age.
Sailing characterisitcs Forgiving boat- rounds up in a puff and let's you know it's not going to get knocked down easily. Light helm, very responsive.
Motoring characterisitcs I hardly motor and I have a very small one, only 4hp.
Liveability Weekender, at best. And really only for two people. Perfect day sailer.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
