Review of the Oday 23 by Chris Wolcott

Year built 1983
Location of boat Lake sidney Lanier, Ga
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2011
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I would, unless a larger 26 or so was available.
Gear that's been added Chart-Reader, Depth Sounder, NMEA-2000 network, Wind Sensor (Speed & Direction).
Structural or complex improvements Battery Box for House & Starter batteries, Custom electrical panel, custom removable swing doors.
The boat's best features Cost, single-handable yet can carry a small group of friends. I can trailer it, so I can bring it home to work on it and avoid all the lift fees.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Raising/lowering the mast can be a challenge by yourself. I am still experimenting with various 'mast raising systems'.
Sailing characterisitcs Sails well. I came in tied for forth overall on my first multiday regatta.
Motoring characterisitcs
Liveability Only good for a weekend cruise. No headroom below if you can't open the hatches. If it's cold outside, it is cold inside as well. Cabin warms up in summer since I can't sail with forward hatch open.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought from individual via a broker. (Snug Harbor Boats.) Overall pretty good.
Other comments Great little boat. The only thing that would make me sell it is if I could get a bigger one.
