The boat's best features I like the keel/centerboard configuration. It gives me good upwind performance and shoal draft along with the security of having my ballast in a solid keel. I also like the separate forward cabin, which gives me an enclosed head. The O'Day was the only boat in this size range that I found with this feature. HUGE storage area under cockpit seat. Separate vented fuel locker. Anchor storage well on foredeck. She also sails beautifully.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. No mainsheet traveller. Single upper and lower shrouds (I would prefer at least one set of doubles).  
Sailing characterisitcs good upwind performance with centerboard down. Doesn't hold a course as well as a full keel design, but compares very to similar types (Catalina 22, etc.) Very responsive helm; can make a complete turn in about one boat length.  
Motoring characterisitcs 9.9 outboard can push boat at hull speed. Very manuverable because of the ability to control the outboard.  
Liveability Full sitting headroom. I have never used the water system (galley and head sinks w/hand pumps, 10 gallon plastic tank, drains to bilge). The previous owner did not use or maintain the system for the 15 years he owned the boat, so I suspect all the hoses and fittings need replacement. I did not take this job on. I have yet to spend more than a day on the boat, but I plan to do some weekend cruising next year.
