Location of boat Long Island Sound
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1998
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? This boat was bought in Minnesota in 1998 and had been used only in fresh water. Thus, it was in great condtion. Since then I've moved to the east coast and find that in the waters of the Long Island Sound, the boat is excellent. It will never be mistaken for a racer, but it always gets me where I'm going.
Gear that's been added A GPS, cruising spinnaker and storm sail.
Structural or complex improvements When the boat was still on a trailer, I added a pivot mast (attached to the transom, it lifts the mast some 6 feet, making it easier to lift).
The boat's best features It's a nice boat and family friendly. Has proved an excellent size for teaching my son to sail.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. None.
Sailing characterisitcs The boat will never be considered fast, and the centerboard can make it less than steady in high winds.
Motoring characterisitcs It goes, that's about it
Liveability We've spent a week on board while exploring the Apostle Island on Lake Superior. However, unless you really like turning your back into a pretzel, it's tough to do a long trip. However, it's great for long days or a weekend.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
Other comments A great starter boat for someone who wants to get going in sailing before moving up.
