Review of the Oday 22 by David Levine

Owner bought the boat in 2004  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes!  
Gear that's been added Teak Galley rack, magazine rack, Depthfinder, permanent VHF (antenna on mast), Hella fans, building a custom locker for the storage area opposite the head, 4 foot stainless transom ladder, thinking of adding a 2nd battery just for the fans as it gets hot here in TN.  
Structural or complex improvements Really just what's above - the boat is in great shape.  
The boat's best features Plenty of room for 4 for day sailing, even fine for 1 night for a family of 4 or a weekend for 2. Well built, little maintenance needed. The centerboard is great for river sailing.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. It is a slow boat but I knew that when I bought it. If I wanted to go fast I would have bought a powerboat. The ventilation could be better.  
Sailing characterisitcs Mostly 2-10 knots at best, relaxed river/lake sailing. It can gust up to 20 but that is pretty rare.  
Motoring characterisitcs I have an 8 HP, 2 cycle. It does the job. Top speed probably 4-6 knots depending on the current.  
Liveability Fine for 1 night for a family of 4 or a weekend for 2. For my kids and I it is fine for several nights but eventually you need a shower beyond the lake!
