How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength Press here to select
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, positively.
Gear that's been added No
Structural or complex improvements Yes, I had some stronger spreader bars welded onto the mast. (No more single bolt holding the spreaders on the mast.) I attached the shrouds to the mast in a different location other than at the spreader bar for added strength and safety.
The boat's best features It is dry, seaworthy, and affordable. It's small draft make it great for shallow water and sand bars.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Spreader bar design is poor. If the single bolt holding the spreader bar gives way there will be serious problems. It is easy for that bolt to fail.
Sailing characterisitcs It is a dry boat. It feels very seaworthy.
Motoring characterisitcs I have an Evinrude 4.5 Hp on the Oday and will motor around when there is no wind. It burns very little gas but is slightly underpowered.
Liveability
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
Other comments I recommend the boat.
