Review of the Oday 34 by Mark

Year built 1984
Location of boat Hobe Sound, Fl
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Multi-week coastal cruising
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? Yes
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Oh yes, The more that I look at new boats the more I like this one. This is a great coastal cruser for two, lots of room for the money, A fast sailer and classic looks. Go buy one!
Gear that's been added Lots of new gear; Taco rubrail, new pumps(water, maserator, fuel, bilge, shower sump) 12 gal water heater, Profurl, soundproofing in engine compartment, Electric range/oven, 3.5 KW genset, head, 1000 watt inverter, micro., reefer w/ freezer, flat screen tv, dvd player, cd player. All the comforts of home!
Structural or complex improvements Rebeded all deck fittings, Replaced overhead, Rub rail was a bitch.
The boat's best features All the fiber glass inside the boat. very sound for the age and easy to maintain.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. rudder has some issues but nothing that can't be fixed.
Sailing characterisitcs very good sailing boat even with all the gear I have aboard.
Motoring characterisitcs will not motor to windward in a 3 foot chop.
Liveability Awsome for the year.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I was in a big rush to close on the boat. But it all work out...
Other comments I think that most 34's will be in good shape for the money and it is a boat no to be afraid of. Go get one!
