Review of the Oday 40 by Rick Seaburg

Structural or complex improvements none  
The boat's best features nice size cockpit, wide side decks, open airy cabin  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. some minor wet core damage  
Sailing characterisitcs 0-25 knot winds seas 0-5 feet boat generally handles well on all points of sail tacking through 60-70 degrees even with the shoal keel. Weather helm builds rapidly as the wind goes over 10 knots but easing the traveler relieves the condition.  
Motoring characterisitcs Handles well under motor easily achieving 7 kts. Has about a 2 boatlength turning diameter  
Liveability very livable good storage lot's of tankage very comfortable for long periods or a day sail.
