If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again?
Without a doubt - I would definitely buy this boat again given the chance!!!
Gear that's been added
No - she's still in her original condition - even with original sails and rigging (in great shape too).
Structural or complex improvements
The motor well was made larger to accomodate a 9.9hp outboard.
The boat's best features
Steady in heavy weather, responsive in light winds, and very quick. The 8' cockpit is a great feature when sailing with friends and family - we've comfortably hosted large numbers daysailing in the bay.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc.
It would be helpful to have an anchor well in the bow.
Sailing characterisitcs
We've found her to be responsive, steady, able to handle rough water.
Motoring characterisitcs
We haven't needed to motor with her often - in and out of the marina she's fine.
Liveability
She has a small galley and head, a trade-off for the large cockpit. We've gone out for weekends with 2 couples, but I wouldn't want to stay out much longer than that with 4 of us. We will be taking her out for a week this year - just the 2 of us. We hope for good weather as the cabin would be cramped in extended poor weather.

We purchased this boat from the original owner who cared for her from 1968 to 2000 - and he did a great job with her. She is in beautiful condition and a pleasure to sail. We have received numerous compliments on her beautiful lines as well as the O'day name that she proudly carries. Many people say the Outlaw was outstanding in her day - well, her day isn't over yet, she's still outstanding.
