Review of the Oday Widgeon by ian

Year built 1973
Location of boat essex, ma
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in port
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? for the price and condition i got it in, yes of course i would.
Gear that's been added new rudder, of course, 3 stay adjusters, hiking strap, cooler pocket, stereo/radio mount, modified the mast step and added a pirate flag
Structural or complex improvements 2 large hatches 1 port/1 stbrd of the mast to aid in stepping and added storage. filled 2 cracks located in the hull just fore and aft of the centerboard.
The boat's best features port mast stay adjuster broke free and sailed her back to shore while holding the stay in hand. smoothest jibing i have ever experienced but is sluggish upwind
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. need to come up with a method for not loosing hte rudder. having problems with the centerboard retracing mechanism on my boat it is a peice of line right now.
Sailing characterisitcs just like the old milwaukee beer commercials it doesnt get any better than this
Motoring characterisitcs none yet
Liveability it has petential i suppose
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
