Location of boat Toano, VA
The boat is sailed on Rivers
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1970
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, it's been a great boat for leisurely day sailing. Very comfortable.
Gear that's been added Boom vang.
Structural or complex improvements Had to replace the transom several years ago.
The boat's best features Comfort, ease of sailing.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. For the little amount of maintenance I have given it, it has held up well.
Sailing characterisitcs A bit hard to turn in light wind, but generally a joy to sail. I did capsize it once, but that was my fault, because my son and I both ended up on the lee side of the boat with the mainsail cleated, and a wave and gust of wind hit us simultaneously. It was not too difficult to right, but we lost the rudder and had to be towed in.
Motoring characterisitcs Stodgy, but it moves with a 3.5 HP outboard.
Liveability Great for day sailing. I don't go out as often as I would like, but whenever I do, I realize again why I bought the boat back when I was much younger.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
