Review of the Oday 22 by John R.DiForte

Year built 1975
Location of boat NYC
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1991
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes it is the perfect boat for the kind of saailing I do ,It a Low up keep boat , Does not Pont very well.
Gear that's been added I added CDI roller furling gear ,a new main and a 130 geny , replaced the old electrical panel with a more mordern one. I lost the mast because the shroud riped out of the deck , I sugest you reinforce with steel . all and all its a good sailing boat.
Structural or complex improvements replaced the mounting brackets for the shrouds with 4 solid eye hooks and reinforced on the inside with steel.
The boat's best features Low up keep , easy to sail , very well built for a boat that is 26 yrs old , i am sure i could sell it for more than i payed for it .
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I have a fixed keel , and it points poorly would apreciate andy sugestions
Sailing characterisitcs sail well on a reach a little unstable on a run .
Motoring characterisitcs 8.0 johnson
Liveability we use it as a day sailor , my sons use it as a motel .
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any private person $1500 with new sails and little stuff put $2000 into it.
