Review of the Oday 28 by Ron Veperts

Year built 1982
Location of boat Point Roberts WA
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2001
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes for the price and the equipment that was standard. With two kids it would be nice to have the 32 oday with the aft cabin. It sails great and easy to handle we love the pressure system and hot water and the privacy of the cabins.
Gear that's been added no
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features The layout the pressure sytem with hot water,a must with kids, the cockpit.the overall design.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The onlything that is a pain is the fold down table,it's unstable at times other then that nothing else.
Sailing characterisitcs Sails great in to wind, easy to dock.
Motoring characterisitcs Motoring at 6 knts is no problem. It responds well in reverse. This has the 5411 universal deisel engine.I real like the universal engines. They are smoother then most and easy to work on.
Liveability
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any The broaker was Yacht Sales West in Seatle Wa.The person I Dealt with was Mark and they were great They made sure everything was right and I was comfortable with the deal.
Other comments I would buy a nother oday for sure but a 32 foot.(just two moore feet)
