If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, I would definatly buy this boat again! I am a sailing school teacher and this is my personal boat. When i bought the boat it needed much work. There was a a torn sail a broken mast and a small hole in it. After doing much labor on the boat to repair it, it looked like new. But that wasn't the best part. The first time I took it out sailing I was amazed at how fast it was and how well it handled in current. I've sailed in just about every small boat there is from my experance as a teacher and this is by far one of the best.
Gear that's been added Yes, I have added one feature that I think just simply makes the boat more practical. I added oar locks so the boat can be rowed when you get into shallow water or the wind dies or you just simply want to row.
Structural or complex improvements Yes, I added a small keel to the stren of the boat on the bottom. I did this so when I am rowing the boat without the rudder in the boat will stay on a straight course and row better.
The boat's best features I very much like the easy to mount mast. I can be taken down and put up very easily by one person.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The only problem I have had is with the rudder. I do not believe the rudder that was on my boat when I got it was origional however I did have to end up making a new one. A friend of mine has an Oday Widgeon and I simply coppied the rudder design from that.
Sailing characterisitcs I've saild this boat in heavy with and strong currents and rought water and consittering the size of the boat it performed very well in all the conditions and I believe it was a very well built boat.
