Review of the Oday 27 by GARY CICERELLO

Year built 1978
Location of boat S.F. BAY
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Racing
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 5-6
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1978
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? The boat has some struterial weaknesses but I have raced and cruised this boat fr 24 years and I still love her. I would buy her again. She is fast and well balanced.
Gear that's been added I put the boat togather when it was new and it is loaded.I also put the lead shoe on it. the shoe makes a world of diference when sailing in a breeze. I sail in 15 to 25 knots of wind often.
Structural or complex improvements I have reinforced the deck at the aft chain plates.
The boat's best features
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc.
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs I have the yanmar deisel and it has been very reliable.
Liveability Very good.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
