Review of the Oday Tempest by Jason Mick

Year built 1970
Location of boat Saginaw Bay
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yea It seems to be a very sound craft. I've only had it a short while and like it alot. The only thing I wish it had was a small dinette. Other than that I've got no complaints.
Gear that's been added Just got it and I'm running it that way.
Structural or complex improvements nope
The boat's best features Well I'll admit I like the outboard hatch cover.(for noise reduction purposes)It also has not much weatherhelm if trimmed properly.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Nothing to report yet.
Sailing characterisitcs I've had it in some pretty wavey condtions and wasn't really too worried. Once you get it trimmed you won't have to mess with it much after that.
Motoring characterisitcs It dosen't take much headway to get the boat to react. It responds very quickly.
Liveability I myself could use some more head room. As I've said before a small dinette would help. Other than that it is a good overniter.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
Other comments Not much other than I'm having a great time with it!
