Review of the Oday Widgeon by tom

Year built 1979
Location of boat falmouth MA
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? yes it's a great boat to learn on
Gear that's been added a compass, hiking staps, new rudder, pull trailer
Structural or complex improvements I bored out a hole on top of the centerboard housing and i use a pvc rod to push down the centerboard down when jammed. i cover the hole with a plug when the centerboard is fully down.
The boat's best features handles waves well, easy to sail on own, light weight and easy to beach.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. the centerboard tends to stick after rocks get cought in the housing from beaching.
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs
Liveability
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
Other comments a wonderfull sailing boat to learn on!
