Review of the Oday 272 by Tony Bolan

Year built 1987
Location of boat Lake Hartwell, South Carolina
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? This is an excellent boat for a family to learn the ropes on. I would buy it again.
Gear that's been added I bought a gennaker, and I'm still trying to rig it right.
Structural or complex improvements None
The boat's best features Roomy inside, sails rather fast considering it's weight, and it points well.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The rigging. No backstay adjuster. No consideration for spinakers.
Sailing characterisitcs See above.
Motoring characterisitcs I use a 9 hours outboard. I hate it, but it works well, and is easily replaced or repaired.
Liveability Perfect bonding tool for the family.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
