Review of the Oday 28 by Mike C

Year built 1982
Location of boat Chelsea NY
The boat is sailed on Rivers
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2004
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? YES!!!! I have owned 3 O'Days (Daysailor, O'Day 22 and now the 28) Great value for a quality boat.
Gear that's been added Garhauer Rigid Boom Vang, line controls led aft to cockpit, solar panel, new halyards, new vhf, new gps, edson pedastal guard
Structural or complex improvements repairing slight delamination under aft most stanchion, rebed all deck hardware
The boat's best features The room in the cabin is enormous for a 28 foot boat!!!! I got the boat a a very inexpensive price with only sweat equity needed to bring this boat into bristol condition.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. do not know yet
Sailing characterisitcs ????
Motoring characterisitcs ????
Liveability I plan on spending 3 weeks on her over the summer going to Block Island and back. ( I'll tell you after the trip)
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Broker. It has been rough. To get a boat loan my lender wanted to boat documented with the Coats Guard. That cost an extra $475 but on top of that, the Broker didn't know that the Coast Guard STILL had paperwork that said there was a lein from the previous owner. This has taken a LONG time to straighten out and I'm still waiting on finalizing the paperwork for ownership of this boat.....
