Review of the Oday 25 by Ed Garcia

Year built 1978
Location of boat La Plata, Maryland
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 5-6
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2002
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes
Gear that's been added Too numerous to mention. Redid the electrics, added an 8 HP Honda four stroke (after reinforcing the transom). Added speed and depth unit. Rebuilt the galley. Replaced all exterior teak with Starboard.
Structural or complex improvements Reinforced hull at bow (under the v-berth) for impact protection. Reinforced stern hull just behind keel and, as mentioned, significantly reinforced transom for the outboard
The boat's best features Lots of room for a trailerable sailboat. Just the right size for our family of five.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc.
Sailing characterisitcs Doesn't point well, but you can't expect a lot from a keel/centerboard configuration. Otherwise, its fine.
Motoring characterisitcs The 8 HP motor powers the boat well.
Liveability
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
