Review of the Oday 22 by Chris Hettler

Year built 1976
Location of boat erie pa
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? probably not should have bought one a little bigger
Gear that's been added new plastimo compass , uniden vhf, fish finder, electric bilge, refurbrished mainsail by sailcare new 5hp briggs & stratton outboard, new forestay cable, and jib halyard
Structural or complex improvements replaced the cabin sole and removed about 10 coats of old antifoul
The boat's best features the shoal draft a few times i wandered into 3 foot deep water also the bulkhead ads some privacy while using the head
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. knot meter only works half the time the jib sheets always get stuck under the forward hatch while tacking
Sailing characterisitcs very stable a little slow but a very forgiving boat learned how to and still learning to sail on her
Motoring characterisitcs a 5hp stroke pushes it along nicely better than the old 6hp 2 stroke
Liveability not that much storage sleeps 2 adults 1 in the v berth and 1 on the starboard settee the port settee is good for a few bags or a cooler
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any no
Other comments great boat good first boat won't be my last
