Review of the Oday 22 by paul gavigan

Year built 1975
Location of boat sunset bay new york
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2004
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? yes great starter boat gives u all the challenges required to gain experience
Gear that's been added am/fm cd player and speakers, antenna for radio
Structural or complex improvements none so far boat is in solid condition except for spongy floor in cockpit but no real problem so far and boat is 31 yrs old
The boat's best features easy to single hand maintinence is non existent except for bottom painting with 9.9 pushes boat handily
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. nothing to note
Sailing characterisitcs it sails relatively well in light wind its not a racer and neither am i if u lookin for speed this boat is not for u the shoal keel is perfect for the type of sailing i do often anchor in 3 ft of water and walk in
Motoring characterisitcs motors very well with my 9.9hp motor but it is the long shaft i think is a must for this boat
Liveability sleeps 4 uncomfortably but is still a pleasant nite onboard in the hot summer anchored offshore and enjoying the breeze
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any private dealer
Other comments its a fun boat to learn on but myself im looking for larger and faster ship soon i hope!!!!!
