Review of the Oday 22 by Kad Henderson

Year built 1976
Location of boat Pensacola FL
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2006
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? no, i would have bought one that was in better shape.
Gear that's been added safety equip, vhf radio, anchor light, new sails, new stove
Structural or complex improvements new paint, new ports, new bow rail, rebuilt v-berth (collapsed durring sanding), new teak on deck, new nonskid above and below, new cabin cushions, new rig, new foam flotation, new wiring, basically its a new boat.
The boat's best features stability, ease of trailering.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. the design of the v-berth the plywood need extra support than what the factory installed.
Sailing characterisitcs good all round sailing boat. very slow but is very good for a beginer.
Motoring characterisitcs very good i have a yamaha 9.9 4stroke that pushes the boat very well. it is also fairly manueverable under power
Liveability good for a weekend and not much else. my previous boat was a coronado 35 thats like a condo on the water so i maty be a bit biased.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any bought it from a private owner that svrewed me on the motor it had a blown head gasket when i bought the boat.
Other comments great bay boat not for the gulf unlkess its a very calm day.
