Review of the Oday Daysailer by lloyd franks

Year built 1973
Location of boat homestead, florida
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2006
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes. The DS2 is easy to sail, and easy to care for. She's fast, and very smooth in most winds.
Gear that's been added I changed the centerboard to a simpler through housing operation. Old system of up and down cables and blocks was cumbersome and had zero tolerance.
Structural or complex improvements Only the change to the CB operation, and a relocation of the jib sheet cams for easier control when sailing solo.
The boat's best features Ease of care, ease of rigging, low cost of maintenance, and her smooth handling while under sail. She can be a tiger or a kitten when on the water, but only does what you ask.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Operation of CB was clumsy, so I changed it to an easier operation.
Sailing characterisitcs Mostly sailing on Bay Biscayne here in south Florida.
Motoring characterisitcs I have a small, and very simple 3.5 two stroke, with a motor mount, that serves my needs. I motor as little as possible, but keep if for the channels, and in case of emergency.
Liveability n/a
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Boat was bought privately.
Other comments Fun boat. Does what is says:Daysailor.
