Review of the Oday Widgeon by Roger McCloughan

Year built 1973
Location of boat Yardley, PA
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2006
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, definitly! "Fair Trade" was named because of the fact that my share of Flemington Fair stock was traded in and sold at the time of the Fairgrounds being sold to a developer. Some of the money from the stock sale paid for the boat. It is in beautiful shape with new sails and rigging, refurbished trailer, and new tiller.
Gear that's been added Planning to add a tiller extension and whisker pole to pole-out the jib for downwind runs.
Structural or complex improvements Reinforced the mast support (where it passes through the deck).
The boat's best features It's a dry sailor (you don't get wet when sailing it), and the fact that through D & R Marine I can still get parts for it!
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc.
Sailing characterisitcs Doesn't sail well without the jib. Sail best when you don't sheet in too much or try to pinch upwind.
Motoring characterisitcs
Liveability Would like to have better access to below-deck storage, and also would like if the seats came up for storage.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
