Review of the Oday 25 by Marc Robic

Year built 1975
Location of boat Montreal, Quebec, Canada
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2007
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Absolutely without hesitation. She is a great sailer, easy to handle and very roomy for a 6'1" guy like me.
Gear that's been added Installed an Autohelm AH800 auto pilot. Removed the hand/manual pumped fawcett in the galley and installed an electric pump and fawcett. The holding was removed and new larger stainless steel one installed under the cockpit. (lead weights were added in the bow belly to compensate weight ditribution.
Structural or complex improvements Removed ALL the teak on deck, sanded and put 6 coats (sanding in between) of Sikkens Cetol Marine Teak. Fantastic product! Wood looks great. Reinstalled all the teak with fresh caulking.
The boat's best features Size. Easy to walk upper deck, yet lots of room inside the cabin. The cockpit is just the right size as well. She also sail upwind suprisingly well even with the centerboard keel all the way up. (I am too lazy to go in the cabin to raise and lower the board. So I leave it up.)
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Nothing
Sailing characterisitcs Under sail, she is easy to handle single handed and respond very well. In light winds she does pretty good with the regular 100% jib, but realy does great with the massive 150% Genoa. Next spring I plan on installing a flexible furler and get the 150% re-cut to fit.
Motoring characterisitcs Responds very well under power (I have a 10hp Yamaha 4 stroke) including reverse.
Liveability Perfect for solo or two adults.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
Other comments I am very impressed with the quality of construction to be honest. I was not expecting such quality in boat and am surprised they do not sell for more money!
