Review of the Oday 222 by Rick

Year built 1984
Location of boat connecticut
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2011
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? yes this boat is one sweet sailer
Gear that's been added spinnaker and gear, backstay adjuster
Structural or complex improvements reinforced the deck under the mast step.
The boat's best features a great sailer in all winds, comfortable large cockpit. plenty of storage nice cabin with sitting headroom. good looking boat.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I moved the mainsheet from the backstay to the frontof the cockpit on the bridgedeck.
Sailing characterisitcs She is lively and very well balanced. very light helm. very predictable a lot of fun to sail.
Motoring characterisitcs she motors fine with my 4 hp mercury
Liveability it's a 22 footer. I just moved down from a 40 footer so accomodations are tight but functional for a weekend or maybe a week.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) out of business
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any private owner
Other comments I've owned several boats and really like this one a lot. Even better my wife likes it too. so much easier to sail than our previous 40 footer. Lot's of fun sailing and comfortable at the dock.
