Year built 1978
Location of boat Waco, Texas
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1993
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes. She has been a great boat for us. We learned to sail on her and have begun to step up to larger boats after learning on her forgiving decks.
Gear that's been added New mainsail (99), redoing cushions now (00), Force 10 grill (96), electric water pump (98), bilge pump, (PO-previous owner) replaced built-in head with portapoty, 180 light air drifter
Structural or complex improvements No. Considering adding shower.
The boat's best features Roomy and forgiving. Great to learn to sail. Swing keel makes depth issues less important.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Swing keel attachment is poor. easily leaks after even minor impact. Reworked it once. Will try again at next bottom job.
Sailing characterisitcs Excellent to sail, but a tender in heavier air with heavy weatherhelm. She can be very hard to hold in +25 winds. Will round up easily, but I've never done a 360 in her, while I've seen Cat25's do this. My experience is she actually seems to go slower in heavy air but that may be my sail trim.
Motoring characterisitcs Excellent, have 9.9 outboard.
Liveability Excellent for a 25 foot boat.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
