Review of the Oday Mariner by Nate Smith

Year built 1970
Location of boat westerly, RI
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in Old
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? yes
Gear that's been added I've replaced the bearings on the trailer, and replaced the windows on the cabin. Nothing else added yet. The previous owner added a roller-furling jib.
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features The roller furling jib is a huge asset.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. No major problems. Trailering is a hassle. Center board access is limited.
Sailing characterisitcs Great stability.
Motoring characterisitcs
Liveability Its a 2+2, which means that there is a V- berth and 2 quarter berths that extend under the seats of the cockpit. These are fairly good for storage. I've spent only 1 night aboard- it wasn't too bad. There isn't much space.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought from a prev. owner.
Other comments Lots of possibilities. Great for a relaxing sail.
