If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I would diffenatly purchase this boat again. It is a sleek, fast, roomy boat at an afortable price. The wife loves the way the cabin is layed out and the light, airy floor plan. We looked for nearly 10yrs at all differnt designs and this is the most living space without sacrafising performance.
Gear that's been added The standard package on this boat is great and about the only add was a hand held GPS111.
Structural or complex improvements Oh. I guess I failed to mention that when i purchased her, the keel was laying on the ground in the yard and half the stub was missing. It took us 3 months and $8,500 to get her back in the water. We did beef up the keel stub and added a 3/8" steel rib cage to spread out the load on the wing keel. So far it is working beautiful with only one draw back, the bilge is getting quite crowded.
The boat's best features The quality of material used in their construction and the quality of the gear used on the vessil. The hull design on the 302 is very sleek and has aminties, like a small swimmout that was ahead of it's time. I feel that this boat will stay looking new for many year to come.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The keel was a weak point until we made the changes in design. The 2800lbs. was held on by 3 one inch stainless steel bolts through about one and a half inches of fiber glass. This, I feel was not enough to support the wing keels movement.
Sailing characterisitcs The 302 is very fast for it's size and head to weather very well. I can lock down the helm and she will hold that corse extremley accurate
Motoring characterisitcs The 302 has an 16hp Yanmar deasel which is very reliable but slow.
Liveability The boat is very comfortable for two
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) [builder]
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
